Lobelia gracilis

Lobelia gracilis is a delicate erect herb uncommon in the Sydney area. It grows on sandy soil in open forest. This photo was taken near the beginning of the Fairyland track in Lane Cove National Park. A nearby street is called Lobelia Ave.

The soft thin leaves of Lobelia gracilis are lobed and hairless and can vary from narrow and pointed to rounded.

The stems are 30-50cm long, with the intense blue flowers about 1cm wide being borne singly on slender stalks, all on one side of the stem.

Lobelia gracilis flowers from November to July.
